Hello everyone,
I am new here and this is my first post! I'm sorry that this is such an icky topic, but I am hoping that you guys can offer some ideas and healing strategies to help my gut.
A little bit about me- I am 28 yrs old and have had IBS issues for as long as I can remember. For the past year or so, I have had issues with diarrhea and my doctor guesses that I am probably only absorbing 30% or the foods that I eat! Needless to say, I've lost some weight. I also have a number of food allergies and am super sensitive in general. I am currently on an anti-inflammation diet and am very careful to stay away from gluten, dairy, nuts, red meat (except lamb), alcohol or caffeine. I eat a very clean, organic diet of whole foods and was always very healthy and active before becoming sick with Lyme.
Since I'm so sensitive, it's been difficult to start up antibiotics and it's been a very slow climb for me. For the past few months, I've been taking 300mg of rifampin and 375mg of zythromax to treat Bart and lyme. For the past six days, I've been having awful bouts of diarrhea and have lost about 6 pounds. My LLMD told me to stop my meds and tested me for C Diff, which came back negative, thank God!! So, my question for all of you is, what can I do to heal my gut? I am sure that I have a little bit of leaky gut going on, but outside of taking gobs of probiotics and activated charcoal, I'm not sure what to do.
Thank you all so much in advance for your ideas and advice on this!
Kayla
