Hello!
Wonder if anyone can help?
In 2011, I had the classic EM rash, flu-like symptoms, followed by so many symptoms. Eventually, in Dec 2012, I got diagnosed privately with Lyme Disease and tested positive in 2 different countries.
Since being infected, my 6yr old daughter started mentioning different things which for a brief moment I thought Lyme Disease? And then tried to brush these thoughts off.
More recently other things have occurred and something is niggling me. Maybe I am being paranoid.
My daughter has mentioned:
Crawling sensation on I think it was her leg.
Sensitive tongue and gums whilst brushing teeth or eating. (I had sensitive mouth for approx 4wks before I was diagnosed. This was so uncomfortable and had to wrap my mouth up with 2 scarves)
Petechiae rash on buttocks (purple flat spots that wouldn’t disappear with the glass test). The first time this happened her temperature went up and down. Dr said this was eczema!! She has it now and has had again before.
Recently, sore scalp to touch and lay down on pillow……I too have had this since being infected with Lyme.
Recently, she woke in the night with headache like knives going into her forehead. She slept with us with a flannel on her head and in the morning it disappeared. She since on 2 occasions woke with headaches and one made her sick.
Ribcage and chest soreness.
Moment of something with her heart whilst sitting in the lounge….not sure if she had missed/extra beat, pounding or mild palpitation.
Recently tested her urine and she has started showing white blood cells in urine….I have had presence of wbc’s in my urine since being infected.
I do remember in 2011 (when all my symptoms started), my daughter having tonsillitis that led onto tracheitis and then some weeks later she was very sick with an upper respiratory infection.
Now, she was come with me on both occasions in 2011 to Thetford Forest in the UK (hotspot for ticks). However, I have also wondered actually how long have I had in my system? Is it possible to be infected and the infection lay dormant and then have a rash later?
Before I had my daughter, I had 2 miscarriages and an ectopic pregnancy. Many years ago I lived in Maryland USA for a year as an au pair and one of the beagles had a tick on it that had fed and one night I had a car crash and ended up in the middle of the woods in the middle of the night…maybe I got bitten here? Who knows.
After returning from the USA, I started to suffer from heart palpitations, tonsillitis and a bout of tracheitis. I remember around 1999 or 2000 when I woke one morning I couldn’t walk on my left leg which then cleared after a day.
From 1999, I started to have a toe nail infection that hasn’t cleared….being treated now!!
After giving birth to my daughter (2006) I remember having severe headaches for 5 days and nights and I was told that I needed to drink more water…they were very painful.
My daughter has always been on the smaller side.
She has always/most nights have night sweats since being a baby.
If she catches a virus/bug she always seems to have it longer than other children and picked up lots of different bugs.
She has had a lot of tonsillitis.
Couple of years ago, she had to start wearing glasses. There was talk of a lazy eye (ok now) , stigmatism and either long or short sighted.
All this I thought nothing of until recently during the Easter holidays and I just started looking at the whole picture. (especially with sore scalp, sensitive mouth and wbc’s in urine, just like myself).
Now if I go to my NHS dr, they will immediately send me on my way and I know they will class me as paranoid.
My option is to take her with me to the private clinic….but please be honest am I just paranoid or should I get her blood tested privately?
Is there anyone else out there whose children have either lyme disease or congenital lyme disease. How do you know if it is congenital?
Thank you.
