Don,
I won't express my idea on Gerson's, cause I don't know a thing about it, need to do some reading/watching...
But I strongly agree with you on the fact that our food intake is so sick. I get the shivers seeing what young children get to eat (although there's a growing consciousness amongst people over here that we need to turn things around).
I find it horrible that some foods are promoted by government, although it's been proven to be unhealthy to ingest them in large quantities, like wheat and cow's milk. But these are very cheap fillers, and a great way to get rid of the excess milk production. Try to find processed food with no milk powder in it, you'll be astonished to notice that it's pretty difficult to find something without it. My sister has a severe casein allergy, it's a real quest to find things without milk powder or whey. She wasn't drinking any milk, almost no cheeses, no butter for many many years, cause she had an aversion towards it, but even eliminating this, she got worse and worse (fibromyalgia) until she was put on a severe casein free diet. 1 little biscuit and he's sick for 1 week. Now she tested positive for Bartonella, and I expect Lyme to follow.
Mind that we were raised by our parents in an unconventional way: we only ate meat coming from animals held at home and fed with grains, herbs, grass and vegetables, garden-grown organic vegetables, self made goat's cheese, self baked bread with flour coming straight from a traditional mill, etc etc
But once we were adults we went to live in the city, we both cook fresh food every single day, but the intake of certain foods must have gone up causing more and more problems (until we were both put on a restrictive diet by this great nutricionist - the changes were fenomenal).
Just my 2 cents...
