So Close...

I submitted my IGeneX test on 10/7. I was informed today that my Dr received the faxed results, but I now must wait until tomorrow morning to go into the office at 9:00 am for my results.

Is it me, or is this just crazy? Is it illegal for the office to tell me over the phone what the results are?

Now I need to wait yet longer to find out if I even have lyme, or if all of this is in my head, or if once again I do have lyme but the test is faulty.

I am not doing very well at this point in time. Doesn't even really matter if the test is positive. I have no job, no insurance, no way of paying for any health care. I see this as a long, drawn out painful death. A death where others just say I'm lying, lazy and a lump of waste.

And, with all of this going on, my maybe finally figuring out what has been going on inside of me all of these years, only to have my fiance inform me that I'm "not the person he fell in love with," and that marriage isn't really something he's considering "any longer." Yep, it's been a great few weeks.

And to think, I'm only one person in hundreds of thousands suffering with this disease, and having to deal with all of these added issues.

Thanks for being here tonight. Sorry for complaining. I guess I'm just afraid and feeling pretty much alone.

But don't let these test results mean more than they should! Many of us have negative test results even though we have the disease!! That's the way with this set of infections.

The tests only detect 50% of those that actually have Lyme and there are reasons for this.
1)The test is designed to only look at 4 or 5 strains of the bacteria, even though there are over 100 strains of Lyme in the U.S. alone - 300 world wide. No one knows just how many of those strains can make humans ill.

2) The tests are designed to look for antibodies that are produced by our immune system - but the bacteria will overwhelm the immune system so that it can't produce those antibodies.

3)If you have Bartonella or Babesia as well, they are known to keep a person from getting a positive Lyme disease test.

This is a very complex bacteria that we are doing battle with - and we haven't outsmarted it yet, although we can most definitely put the disease that it causes into remission!

I'm so very sorry that your fiance did that to you. If he isn't going to stick around during the rough times, believe me, he doesn't deserve you!! I met and married my current hubby while I was very ill with these diseases - he didn't know a thing about them, but he saw strength in me () anyway. We have been together for almost 14 years, 13 of those I was very ill - but he was there through it all with me and so deserves to be with me now, when I can be the nut that I really am and have the energy to be who I want to be.

Any true friends wouldn't think that of you in the first place, and for any family members that may be thinking that way, well they will have one heck of a surprise when you are healed and bounce back! I know that I still have a few stubborn family members that really don't want to like me that don't believe that I had Lyme all that time, but I don't have to talk to them if I don't want to!!

I feel your pain cocoon. I was confirmed 2 weeks ago I had lyme. I have not been a happy camper. on top of that I am having marital problems, I am on disability as a result of what this disease did to me, and I am in withdrawal from a 15 yr addiction to benzodiazepines. Life is tough right now and before I found out about the lyme I was about ready to throw in the towel.

I can tell you as a health care professional that telling you your lab results over the phone is not illegal. Now adays due to Hippa laws, aka privacy laws, doctors will have you list on your patient profile you fill out if they can contact you over the phone or email to discuss your plan of care with you.

You don't need your fiance if he will not support you while you are going thru this terrible time. I am sorry you do not have insurance, and facing this crisis. You are not alone. We are here and you will get thru this one day at a time.

I am confused because I thought with obamacare, everyone had insurance now. If you do need help with paying for medication and treatment, there are websites like needymeds and others I have found on line and heard others talk about. I have also heard of patients getting so desparate they go to a place like TSC and buy animal/horse/cow/ goat antibiotics to take because they can be bought so cheaply. I don't recommend this unless it is a last resort but you have to do what you have to do to survive.

HUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You got us and we love you. It does feel like a slow death...but your turn around is going to come. Last December my doctor called me and all she said was, "You're positive and how soon can you get here." Everyone is different and before you know it tomorrow will be here and you will know. But regardless as others said...you know how you feel and must be treated. I'm truly praying for you. I'm beyond broke but my doctor was kind enough to let me pay her off in installments. Thank God. A good doctor is there to help their patients regardless of their finances.

I just got my results back from IGeneX, via my chiro. I'm this chiro's first lyme test patient, and he has no idea what he's talking about. He stated I do not have lyme, and need to start looking at what IS wrong, like fibro. He has NO idea what he's talking about...

I spoke with the local support group ppl this afternoon, told them my #'s, and they said I have lyme, and co-infections, with my symptoms. They are supportive, and I appreciate them.
