Starting antibiotics, feeling scared - what to expect

Hello

I am starting antibiotics today and I am scared to start. I went to doktor in Belgium because doktors here dont treat chronic lyme and I am not even sure I got lyme. I have low cd57 count. My doktor in my country was telling me about antiibotics can be dangerous and the woman who was in the pharmacy said this was alot of antibiotics even though it is not alot what I have been seeing here. 200 mg doxy and 500 mg clarithromycin. So anyway I want to try this for maybey 2 months and see how it goes. Will I know if I have lyme the way I respond to the antibiotics. When will I expect to get better and for how long will I feel worse. If I will not feel better in 2 months I probably dont have lyme or what. I am so confused. Please tell me what to expect. I am afraid to take the first pill until I get some answers. It is so hard not to have a doktor how can tell you these things. Just got a warning antibiotics can be dangerous and then totally on my own. He says we dont know if I have lyme and I agree but I have been sick for four years and have to do something. Cant just be lying in bed for the rest of my life. And my doktor in my country has no solution.

I know how scary this can be!

I've been on clarithomycin almost 5 weeks now. I've tolerated it fairly well. I do a lot to detox, to get the dying bacteria out so it doesn't build up.

In some ways I feel better, and some ways not as good. You really need a lot of rest and a lot of water.

It would be a great help for you to read the new to lyme info at the top of the list.

Thank you, yes I do have a family to help me. The goal for me with the antibiotics is to know if I have lyme. So if I dont find any difference in two months I dont know what to do. I really hope I will find some difference. Okey so you have take the antibiotics for 5 weeks and dont feel alot of difference. My main symtoms are fatigue and brain fog.

Your symptoms should improve shortly after taking the antibiotics. It is very scary starting new medicine for the first time. Best of luck to you and be sure to communicate with the dr. to let him know if the meds are helping you !

My brain fog is related to how much or little sleep I get. Are you sleeping?

Most of the scary neuro symptoms I had have diminished or are gone. White ghosts images around things, mixing up words, apathy, being tongue-tied. But, I still have many others symptoms.

I had the same fears when I started antibiotics. The only think you need to remember is that if you are taking antibiotics you need to replenish your good bacteria in your gut because antibtiotics don't just kill the bad bacteria they kill ALL BACTERIA good and bad. You need the good bacteria for all sorts of reasons. So take probiotics at least one hour away from antibiotics to help replenish. If you are taking, lets say, 4 antibiotic pills a day, then replenish with 4 probiotic pills a day. try taking different types to maximize the colonies of all strains in your gut. I take a probiotic that needs to be refridgerated and it is called Ther-Biotic complete from Klaire Labs. It has 25+ billion cfus and is a multi specimen probiotic supplement, I take 6 pills a day as directed by my LLND.
