Haven't posted in quite a while because I've been on a pretty consistent upswing. My main problems now are joint pain - knees and wrists - and the LLMD hasn't had much success in improving them. My main question, however, is this: I'm seeing a Lyme literate psychiatrist who had put me on 10 mg of Lexapro about 6 months ago (in addition to anti-anxiety meds). When I saw him today, I told him that my anxiety was greatly reduced, but that my mood has been rather flat. It's as if I have no incentive to do much of anything. You could give me a free trip around the world and I'd say thanks, can we make it another time? On hearing this, he said that the Lexapro generally works best for anxiety, which is why he prescribed it for me, but that Welbutrin works well for the blahs, the lethargy, and so he wrote me a prescription for 150 mg XL once daily. I told him I really didn't want to take any more pills, and he said, "You have two choices, then, the lethargy or trying the Welbutrin."
Can anyone tell me if my fear of Welbutrin is justified? Has anyone found it helpful in elevating their mood from flat to normal? Also, can Lyme cause the lethargic mood?
