Hi Sue,
Sorry to hear you are going through this. I think it is one of the hardest parts of this disease, to be told contradicting information constantly. It makes it very hard to pick a path for yourself. As many will tell you, with treatment with Lyme - you will most likely notice a difference. Either a herx or improvement and time will tell. For me, even though I had drs say it wasn't lyme - I knew AND I improved rapidly on treatment.
Since, I have had one doctor do a complete 180 and honestly believes that I did have lyme and that it was treated. She wasn't my favorite dr BUT she did care and when I got all better (which I did :) ), I went back in to show her. Granted I really wanted to say "I told you so" but I didn't. But it was very clear that she had gone back and looked at lyme disease. She probably won't treat it but she will be more open minded about other people that will present situations similar to mine.
Also...I collect old medical books. One from about 1910 states that according to the 'foremost expert' freckles were a parasitic fungus. The best cure was to rub mercury salt on your face.... Each industry and each generation has its own 'arrogance.' about 90% of what is in that book is still true today. Just try to use your best judgement and keep moving forward.
