opinions on Igenex

No matter what the LLMD says, please do find treatment for your son. With band 39 being even a IND - he's got Lyme disease. Band 39 is specific for Lyme disease, and the only way he can show any response - since it doesn't cross react with anything else - is to have it in his poor little body.

His foot pains could indicate Bartonella as well - but the tests for the co-infections are less accurate than the ones for Lyme disease - so that needs to be a clinical diagnosis.

I think that the llmd we are seeing will prescribe antibiotics at our appt. Thursday.
When I called to request the results by mail for before the appt, her assistant went over the results (to a degree) with me on the phone and said that the doctor will want to treat b/c of the positive band (and probably b/c of the IND band too).

I have read a bit about Bartonella here and there, and saw that about the foot pain being on that list too.
The llmd we are with right now is pretty good, but I don't think she promotes or does testing for co-infections usually, which is a concern of mine and one reason why I'm looking into maybe a new llmd in Chicago who does.

Vcast, to answer your question about mood anxiety or aggression issues, I would say yes, but mild. In fact that was one of the first things I noticed in this past early Oct., was that he was having a few fits when he never did before (at least not as long ones), and I found him being rude to me, agitated sometimes, when he usually never had been, and not often, but once in awhile he'd tried to hit me (rarely, but again it went from never to a handful of times.) as we'll, a bit of strong separation anxiety in Oct., like maybe once or twice a week. That one doesn't happen anymore though.

None of those things are out of control, and most people (like aunts, cousins, etc.) say they don't even notice it, but since I'm with him all the time, I did and do.

no difficulty sleeping though. yet at bedtime and in the morning right away, he is always so hungry, to the point of being bothered by it.

Is this stuff a co-infection symptom? or a symptom of lyme itself?

While I won't discourage you from seeking out another LLMD (I feel we need to find the one that "fits" us), I would caution you about doing so just to get co-infection testing.

The blood tests used for Lyme miss at least 50% of those that are truly infected and co-infection testing is much worse. If you are interested in it still, you can actually order your own tests through Igenex (www.igenex.com/Website/#), have the blood drawn and then send it off.

With that being said though, I do believe that you have seen enough symptoms in your son to be concerned about co-infections, and like Vcast, I would say look at Bartonella.
