LLMD reliable and experienced??

I took some papers to the LLMD's office today for when I have my first visit with her but I have a lot of doubts about this. It does not look professional at all to me. Her office is in an obscure building hiding way in back of the road. There is no office staff or even a receptionist there--- only a bell to ring in the waiting room. The doctor does not do blood draws but sends patients to a walk-in clinic nearby.

Tonight I sent her an email asking for patient recommendations and her medical experience. But I feel like I would be throwing money away going to someone who is like from a bad movie. I got her name from the Wisconsin Lyme Network but they probably don't know who is reliable.

Am I just over-reacting? Or do all LLMD's not have clinics, office staff, and a lack of professional feel to the whole experience?

I've known of some NDs with a setup like that, but never an MD, so I don't blame you for being nervous. Can you meet with her for just a consultation before you sign on with her? They're often free or low cost. Not doing blood draws is common, so I wouldn't worry about that part. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. Regarding this doctor-- I asked her for patients' recommendations and she just sent me testimonials from pts. who lost weight! And I looked online at St. Christopher College of Medicine in Luton, England (her college) and they are not accredited there or in some states here.

What do you guys think about this? I have an appt. with this Dr. at the end of the week..........

If you don't feel comfortable with this doctor, you are going to have a hard time healing. Doctors are like policeman and fireman; they need to be trusted. When you go see a doctor, you are putting your health, well being, and sometimes your life in their hands. If you are uncomfortable with her, then you are probably going to question her advice and experience.

Sometimes we have to listen to our intuition, and other times, we give someone a chance and they turn out to be the best thing that has happened to us.

As far as the clinic itself, some doctors are just starting out or practice medicine for the love of it and not for the financial gain so they don't have the money to have a nice office and office staff.

I just got a reply from the doctor I told you about and she said that ALL colleges are accredited. Then she said that maybe I should see another LLMD in another city! One who might take Medicare patients. So I think she does not want me!!!!

What was that all about and I will be happy to check on some other LLMD's gladly!
