Wouldn't it be better to clarify here so everyone is on the same page? Other doctors and centers are routinely mentioned here by full name. I'd always assumed it was because they put themselves out there by doing things like writing books.

@Pathogen -If I say, I would recommend Buhner, his treatment worked well for me or Jernigans is supposed to be good - in general it is in reference to a treatment ie NOT the person. I'm sure that there have been times where the person is mentioned but come on.......

We live in happy SUE everyone USA. Anytime a name is mentioned on here a doctor it leaves the door open for potential slander and libel suits. We've all heard of those ridiculous lawsuits - they happen everyday. So, in general, it is discouraged as much as possible. It is for the same reason that we can 'suggest' and talk about treatments and herbs that worked for us but we can't actually give medical advice. Same principal.

I know dr Mc and she is incredibly outspoken on who she is, what she treats and has written a book. I never say drs names but it does seem very selective when there are constant posts about hansa and dr, J. It almost seems like hw advertises for him and dr H indirectly by selectively only allowing their names as these are both practicing medical professionals treating Lyme patients. It seems like no doctors names should be mentioned, period. if the rule is such regardless of how public the figure is. Things just seem kinda uneven lately and I can tell you mods don't appreciate that being brought up, but it's hard to function in a place of sometimes and selective rules.

Well I can honestly tell you that I have enough on my plate that I don't really worry about such trivial things- there are really more important things to be concerned about and I'm sorry that such a minor detail makes you think that you cannot function on a forum. All the mods and I try to adhere to rules that were in place before we were members. There is a ton of communication that goes on through emails and it is a bit more work but...again - really a trivial detail. If you wish to discuss this further please contact Trav or I through email as the subject of this thread is more then a bit off topic.

First of all, think of how much help anyone could be if we never mentioned a single doctors name -even when referencing their work.

Secondly - no more talk of this on the forum, as it takes away from the time that could be given to support others. If you wish to continue this conversation, I will be happy to talk with you, but only off forum. If you have a problem with the way this forum is run, please talk with Admin.
