I really don't know how to answer that but I can say what I read about it.
Our famous Lyme herbalist believes there is no reason to use the TOA-free cat's claw since it just makes it more expensive to consume in the long term, and doesn't add any benefit. He also says the TOA and the POAs both are beneficial to fighting Lyme disease.
The TOAs are argued by some to inhibit the effectiveness of the POAs.
I personally didn't notice much difference in my health with the regular cat's claw, but samento worked really well though! But it is also much more expensive.
