No, they're 3 or 4 miles away at least with several hills and forests in between. I haven't grown corn for years, because the coons got to it before we did. Gardening is a challenge here since we have several critters around that interfere, with moles being the worst.
The main reason it's said that people may not live as long is from the standard American diet (SAD), which is very lacking in good nutrition and all the fast food places offer nothing to keep us healthy. I stand in line at Costco and see all the food in peoples carts and wonder how anyone survives it. They do have some organic foods, but not enough.
I have several starts of peppers and tomatoes that I started, so they'll be ready to go out in a couple of weeks. I got a late start. I have to make wire cages to put in the holes before I plant, to keep the moles from plowing through the root system. I'll plant some beans, squash and melons too and hope that the melons will produce some fruit.
I wish more Lyme patients could afford organic food so it would help with their healing. I hope to grow a bigger garden some year so I can take some to our support group for people to take home. It would all be organic and free.
