In August of 1992, I presented with a very suspicious rash on my thigh. It was not the typical "bullseye", but it was very bizarre looking. So much so that I took a picture of it, which I have kept all these years. At the time I lived in Pennsylvania and went hiking in a forest known to have ticks. Within a couple of weeks of the rash, I developed a severe flu and never recovered from it. At the time, I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which has lasted for 21 years.
At the prompting of my chiropractor, I am currently in the midst of working with an MD regarding the possibility that I have had Lyme Disease all these years. She is extremely knowledgeable about LD and has consulted with an LLMD concerning my case. My testing (done by Igenex) came back very unclear, and the LLMD agreed that my test results were murky. A follow-up IgM 31 kDa Epitope Test came back negative. My IFA test was equivocal. I did have a strong positive for Anaplasmosis, however, and my CD57 test came back at 8. My MD's take on it all is "If it walks like LD and talks like LD, it's probably LD."
As suggested by the LLMD, I am currently half-way through my four-week treatment of Doxycycline (100 mg twice a day) for the Anaplasmosis. That was the only co-infectant that was positive. According to the LLMD, there is a two-fold purpose in taking the Doxy: 1) wipe out the Anaplasmosis infection and 2) bring the Lyme out of my cells if it is present and then do another Western Blot test three weeks into the Doxycycline treatment to see if the results are positive for LD then. I have not noticed any change in my health since being on the Doxy. I don't feel any better and I don't feel any worse.
I am just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and can offer any insight.
