she had a rash on her back and a circle on her knee. Doctor told her it was classic lyme disease. He prescribed her amoxicllin and told her it was 'curable' ... I was always under the impression unless you catch it within 48 hours, its not curable. She had the rash for 2 weeks.

What is her prognosis based on what you people know about the disease? I'm a lyme newbie and know nothing. I ask because the doctor gave her some pamphlets that said it never goes away and she is confused; as am I. Also she is very concerned about Bells Palsy and her face drooping. Any advice is GREATLY APPRECIATED.

My mom is in her mid 60's

I would be very cautious with this. If you look at my signature you will see why. Personally, though it is expensive - I would have her go to an LLMD. Other doctors do not prescribe a high enough dose of antibiotics usually for it to be effective. I also went to the dr about 2 weeks after the bite but got sick years later from inadequate treatment.

It would still be early though so she really shouldn't be in treatment for too long.
