Lymepickle, thank you for posting the link to this article.
I am very excited by the research that Dr. Zhang and team from the Johns Hopkins University have done because they have taken antibiotics that are commonly available to all practitioners and tested them against the common strain of Lyme. Even though the research was done in vitro, I think that this is a great start and hope that many other research centers will follow suit so we can determine what are the best available antibiotics out there for Lyme and company, specially in vivo.
As I read the article, I could not help to think of those here who have had little success with treating Lyme with Doxy or Amox. I also thought of those who have plateau in their treatment after a certain period of treatment. Perhaps adding or replacing one of the many antibiotics with one that showed to be effective may turn the tide for us who can't seem to move forward.
Now, imagine if Dr. Zhang was to take his research and add Banderol or Cats Claw to the mix and compare it to these antibacterials. I would pay to see the results. If they showed to be as effective as some antibacterials, that would shoot the use of herbals into the stratosphere versus being ignored by all but a few of the traditional medicine practitioners at this time.
I would like to hear from others in this post as to whether this article will encourage them to try some of the abx that proved to be more effective in treating Lyme.
