For the second time now I have ramped my doxy up to 200 mg twice daily. I backed off the first time to half dose after a 12 day herx.
After three days of the higher dose, I suffered last night. Finally up at 5:30 am and can't get back to sleep.
So, I'm trying to figure out if it is indeed herxing, or if it's coinfections coming to the forefront.
I'm trying to sort out if it's bart or babs or both.
My initial symptoms over a year ago: radiculopathy (nerve pain starting in shoulder blade, radiating along nerve path down arm to hand), lump in throat/dry cough, night sweats (but not drenching), periodic low level anxiety, and vibrations in body (electrical sensations). Many more symptoms appeared over the next few months (muscle/joint pains, memory loss, pressure behind my eyes, skin changes, twitches, chills/shivers, and more)
Is it possible to test positive for lyme disease, but only have co-infections?
I was IgM Igenex Positive - with a couple of single + bands, and a couple of IND bands. The only ++ band was 31 (isn't that the one they are now thinking is Bart?)
I am going to add zithro to my doxy today or tomorrow...I'm hoping this will address the bart - Dr. M.R. guidelines for bart - Tier 2 is combining a tetracycline with macrolide - zithro and doxy was an example he used.
I am seeing the LLND near the end of August...but in the meantime I'm doing what I can to try and alleviate a symptom or two.

Sounds like herxing to me. Back muscle pain and fluey/chills were the ones I can attribute to Doxy. I could never tolerate 400mg. The nausea was way too much for me at that level. It also gave me shaking chills. What were your symptoms last night?

Todd/Paul - The previous ramp up to full dose doxy I had the back pain and chills/shivers (but if I take my temp, it's ok)
Last night I had bouts of anxiety, chills/shivers, and a little back pain, and couldn't get back to sleep after 5:30.

I think I asked this question re: herxing or co-infections the last time I ramped up the doxy.
I guess that shows how unsure and concerned I am about
all this.
(I tend to repeat myself when I'm worried)
Sorry everyone!
