While at this stage it doesn't look like the bulls eye rash (Lyme is the only thing that causes the bulls eye rash), it still could be from Lyme, as Lyme produces lots of different types of rashes. www.lyme.org/gallery/rashes.html

Did this rash ever get a clearing - where the skin went back to nearly it's original color - and leave a red ring around it still? Did it ever look similar to a "bullseye" on a target?

As you can see in the link I posted in the previous post that there are a couple of pictures of Lyme rashes that look like your photos - so I would have to say that it is a good possibility that this rash is associated with Lyme disease - especially since I know that you have some of the Lyme symptoms. Keep these photos and be sure to show them to any doctor you are seeking treatment from.

Yes, antibiotics could have had an effect on the rash and it's appearance - even at lower doses.

This link might be helpful. Long story short- azithromycin cream (topical) was proven very effective and providing a somewhat systemic effect to prevention of lyme disease even a few weeks after rash. A lot of doctors don't like prescribing oral antibiotics so this might be an alternative to show them. Worth a shot, however - just saw it was a study done by the CDC so......might not be great but possibly better then nothing.

Efficacy of an Experimental Azithromycin Cream for Prophylaxis of Tick-Transmitted Lyme Disease Spirochete Infection in a Murine Model

ABSTRACT

As an alternative to oral prophylaxis for the prevention of tick transmission of Borrelia burgdorferi, we tested antibiotic cream prophylactic formulations in a murine model of spirochete infection. A 4% preparation of doxycycline cream afforded no protection, but a single application of 4% azithromycin cream was 100% protective when applied directly to the tick bite site at the time of tick removal. Indeed, the azithromycin cream was 100% effective when applied at up to 3 days after tick removal and protected 74% of mice exposed to tick bite when applied at up to 2 weeks after tick removal. Azithromycin cream was also protective when applied at a site distal to the tick bite site, suggesting that it was having a systemic effect in addition to a local transdermal effect. Mice that were protected from tick-transmitted infection did not seroconvert and did not infect larval ticks on xenodiagnosis. Azithromycin cream formulations appear to hold promise for Lyme disease prophylaxis.
