My first LLND appt Saturday - finally !

I'm finally going to see Dr. C. He isn't an MD, but a ND - and from what I've heard - he's "amazing", "awesome", "kind", - to quote a few people.
Here in Canada, we don't have MD's to treat us - as they are threatened to have their license removed if the prescribe long term abx for lyme.
I have been in contact with two people who are being treated by Dr. C. One is a lady who had lyme for 20 years and has been getting treatment for about a year now - she is about 75% better and has plateaued, the other one had symptoms for 8 months, felt improvement after 7 weeks, treated with abx for 6 months in total and is off meds now, only herbals for 3 months now. Both of them say he's knowledgeable, good bed-side manner and doesn't push his own products. After the initial consult, he does phone or skype appointments. I will only have to travel every 3 months or so.

So, I will bring my symptom list, and my time-line of how things have progressed prior to and during my treatment.
I will bring my list of meds, as well as herbals/supplements I'm taking.
I will also bring my lab work.
What else do I need?

Someone to take notes!!! LOL! And a note pad. There will likely be a lot of information given during this appt. You won't want to miss anything. The other person can also serve as a 'extra set of ears' to be sure that all that doctor says is heard - it's likely that your mind will be working on things as the doc is telling you some things at least. Most people are glad they took someone along.

If you are traveling very far, remember that this appt may last a little while. If you aren't planning on stopping and eating along the way (or even if you are), you will likely need at least a snack. These appt's can be exhausting.

Be sure to take water with you.

Cheetahjade - I love living in Canada - except for the Lyme treatment. We are way behind the US in testing/diagnosing/treating lyme...so we don't have many options.
I am seeing THE Doc here in BC - he isn't an MD - he is a ND but has wonderful reviews and is very knowledgeable. I believe Lymepickle also travels to see him.

If MD's would treat us, our treatment wouldn't be so expensive, as all MD visits are covered under our medical plan. I would only have to pay 20% of the prescription costs. I will have to pay for the ND visits, as we only get up to $500 per year and then have to pay after that. I have already exceeded the limit.

Awareness is growing in Canada, so hoping in the next few years we see big changes for Lyme treatment.
