I figured out
why/how the support we get
from others/inside
ourselves (self-talk)
is paramount to our
healing.
It hit me recently
that having a chronic illness
is similar to
'failure to thrive' people (infants/elderly).
We need to improve
our immune system
with the right
foods/supplements/meds, etc.
That will help to
build up from the inside.
We also need
outside/inside support.
This builds up our
emotional self,
thus helping to
build up our physical self.
If we are lacking
nutritional, physical or emotional support,
we therefore go
into the 'failure to thrive' mode.
How many of us are
in the situation
where we have been
left to fend for ourselves,
without or with
lots less, emotional support?
And, living through
this, we know how that feels,
and the damage it
does to us both emotionally and physically.
What can we do
about this?
One way I've found
that has helped me
is to first
acknowledge that this
is what is
happening to me and my mind/body.
Others had dropped
the ball and
left me literally
'hanging by a thread, alone.'
The second step was
to realize
I could no longer
depend on 'those' people.
I then knew I must deal
with my emotions
of hurt, anger,
frustration, pain, etc.
That took a while.
It's individual to
each of us,
but usually a step
that must be dealt with.
It's a big part of
the grieving process.
And then, I started
to take a good look around me
and made myself see
what IS positive in my life,
and finding ways to
get the support I needed:
Positive, safe
support.
This website was
one of the FIRST,
if not the first,
to come my way.
You guys literally
helped get me started on the path to healing!
Thank you!!!!
Then, I found
support from FB sites.
I shied away from
online things for years.
Mostly due to the
paranoia that wracked my brain,
now realizing that
was all from the infections!! (lyme/co)
But, I've found
that there were people on line who
actually care, and
they get it, and they don't ask for anything
FROM me, but
provide me with lots of encouragement, and positive input.
Coming to
understand things from this perspective,
and how this affected
me and was a huge part
of why I felt so
poorly,
the "failure
to thrive" issue,
in regards to lack
of support, and/or negative support
(which happens from
ignorant people),
has helped turn
much about my life and my thinking around.
Please note that
before I was able to get on a low dose antibiotic
to help decrease
the inflammation,
I WAS UNABLE TO
THINK, FEEL, OR BE DIFFERENT.
Without that help,
I don't think I could even begin
to think clearer to
get to this point.
I hope that this
makes sense to at least one person.
We need support,
from others, and from ourselves.
It's a fact.
If you don’t have
that needed support in your life,
then please know
that there are groups out there,
somewhere, that
people are willing and able to offer a kind word.
Support will
literally make or break a person.
I pray we can all
get the support needed.
We are worth
it!!!!!
You are worth it!!!!
This can truly help
to make our path to healing faster.
There is a facebook
sight for the chronically ill. “Heart Share”
It matches you up
with another each month,
to send/receive a
'care package'.
If one is unable to
send, they can put their name in to only receive.
Having one thing a
month to look forward to
could make a huge
difference in our lives.
And please know
that the support you give on this sight
is helping to heal
the other(s).
It's quantum
physics.
We do affect the
other in all we do.
We do need one
another.
Peace and Perfect
Health to us ALL.
