I am in the process of finding a good LLmd but I am not sure I have lyme but regular doctors are not able to find what is wrong with me so I wanted to try LLMD but I am so scared that I get into someone who take advantage of me being so frustrated and eager to feel well again, so he lied to me about having lyme or start giving me natural remedies that I don't need and that may mask my real disease ...
what should I do ..please advice ?
could I go to LLMD and if he find nothing..he can be honest with me and send me my way ? or try to make money of of my stupidity ?
is it better to find LLND then or the same story..how do I make sure i am not taken advantage of especially that I have to save money for these visits as I can't afford them now...so I don't wanna be wasting my money for greedy doctors ?
any experience or thoughts ?

That is a tough one but a smart question. There are definitely lyme doctors that take advantage. Be skeptical. If you aren't extremely ill - I might start with an ND or herbalist. Truthfully, my LLMD was as expensive as my ND so I'm not sure if it will save you money. Some llmd's are really expensive. My old dr definitely told people that they did NOT have lyme but treated them for other issues that were similar or did referrals to mold specialist etc.

#1 Try not to go to the most expensive LLMD...

Whereabouts are you located. My name radar is telling me you might be in the Northeast?

I think the biggest thing is educating yourself. I read everything I could find. Everything my doc says makes sense. Her treatment protocols make sense.

I agree with educating yourself. Not just about Lyme but also about the coinfections. When I went to see a Dr., I knew I had Lyme and probably a coinfection. No other disease matched up like all the Lyme symptoms did. Plus I did find a tick and a rash 3 months earlier, so that really helped. But if you were tested for everything else it could be - MS, Lupus, etc, and everything is coming back negative and the Lyme or coinfection symptoms really match up, then I would pursue seeing a LLMD. Mine happens to take insurance and I just pay the copay. Maybe you could find one like that. I really hope you find someone that can truly help you...

You might want to get a personal recommendation from someone who has already seen and been treated by the doctor (though even the best doctor will have mixed reviews as no one is everybody's cup of tea).

Avoid a doctor who sells their own medicinal preparations and supplements, or who charges a great deal of money for the initial consult. Be aware, however, that the first visit to an LLMD will include the price of testing.

There are charlatans out there, but there are far more honest doctors dedicated to getting their patients well. Don't settle for someone you don't trust.

And definitely educate yourself so you can be familiar with what the doctor suggests, but don't try to run the show yourself, they'll have a lot more experience treating the disease than you.

I agree with all the above suggestions and I would say, when in doubt, post here! You won't find a more honest bunch of people as we all want the same thing - so see the other members here get better!

What we did for my husband, I bought some Samento and had him slowly take the drops, 1 drop twice per day for 4 days and then move to two drops and on and on. Finally he herxed from it and then he decided to have my Lyme doc test him. If you don't have Lyme then you shouldn't have a reaction.

Or you can go on one of the herbal protocols and treat yourself.
