Yes I think you're right Mike, PDF's are not writeable.
But, can they not be converted back to a writeable document?

Trying from one of my pdf files (lyme symptoms ID) I copied from here recently that I liked....

I tried uploading it as a pdf and it didn't work out, so I deleted that too.

Anyone have any more ideas?

Thx Girlie, apparently you have to have an account with them, confirm your email, then on site-click "save" on it and it will let you download whatever file is posted.

I used an alternate email address to make sure and created another account just to test to make sure and I was able to download again to my computer!! LOL
...So another lost cyberspace account!

OK… let's try this.

I uploaded the .xlsx file to Google Docs. Directions:

1. If you click on the link below, it should take you to a web version of the document.

2. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MODIFY/USE THE FILE WHILE IT IS IN GOOGLE DOCS—I'm indicating that it is readable only but once you download it to your hard drive, you will be able to use it normally.

3. Click on "File" at the top menu bar

4. Click on "Download As"

5. Then choose "Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)

6. And then once you find it on your local hard drive, you can use the file.

Note: some of the formatting was "lost in translation"—e.g. the awesome fat bar chart turned into malnourished lines but it still functions OK. I will play around with the formatting a bit to see if I can fix that.

I saw this thread yesterday but didn't imagine it had to do with the Excel charts.

I'm so sorry to cause consternation, but I have no idea what to do with them either. I can attach and send but that is the limit of my capabilities.

I think your post worked. You have to take one additional step before the steps I wrote in my note though—

When you click on the link it brings you to a "view" of the file;
Then you have to click "open" at the top of the screen to "open with Google Sheets";
And then you can follow my directions.

I don't think YOU, personally, are vulnerable with sharing this file. Just be sure to share it only as "read only". I've used it all the time over the past couple of years for work.

Hope this helps! Yes, I could get this whole computer thing figured out, but I could not for the life of me remember my phone number yesterday… so… go figure. ;)

Traveler, the link works as designed, thus no indication of vulnerability on your end. It is a good thing to make it read only and with the option to download if needed. This is the best way to share a public document.

Can someone see if this works now? I posted the links just under the symptom lists (figured that was the best place to put symptom charts ) - about half way down the first page.

If there are changes that need to be made, just let me know. Please remember that I'm computer illiterate mostly, so I need a lot of help!!!

I don't even know how to read those flow charts, much less what to do with them!!
