I also share that experience and reaction to bloodsugar imbalance. I think palpitations can also happen if you have a yeast/fungal overgrowth in your gut, which is reliant upon sugars (and simple carbs) to survive. You can have immediate reactions whenever you feed it (dizziness, lethargy, nausea, and a ton of other symptoms) if you have a yeast overgrowth and this is common with people who are on antibiotics.
ALSO… Before I suspected I had lyme and co… I was testing out theories, and decided to do a parasite cleanse. So I started a juice fast. After 5 days, I made some chick pea concoction for my first meal and just as I had a spoonful enter my mouth—before any of it even touched my tongue, my entire body reacted—it was the strangest thing. My glads started spasming—painfully and I immediately salivating, my jaw muscles hurt, my heart started pounding, my head was pounding, I was out of breath. This all happened literally within half a second as the spoon entered my mouth, and when the food actually touched my tongue it heightened for about a minute, then in about 5 minutes I was calmer. Weird.
And I don't have varicose veins but do have some spider veins in my legs now. I like rowingmom's/Buhner's statement about the Bart—I think it constricts blood flow in weird ways…
