Toby is home now.

After 2 weeks in the hospital and 1 week in a nursing facility, Toby has come home. His brain is still healing from the fall, but according to the health professionals, he is doing amazing considering the horrific injury he sustained from falling backward on cement. It was a Subdural Hemorrhage and his PCP can't even believe he survived it. WE are hoping he heals enough to get stronger and communicate like he did before the fall.

People should never take Lyme lightly. He tested positive for Lyme through IGENEX and has suffered having ALS symptoms. His balance was really off the last few months and he fell because of it. It is due to this insidious bacteria with whatever co-infections he has that caused this to happen. I am going to aggressively pursue more options to get him healthier. It so angers me that Chronic Lyme is ignored and that a reputable lab, like Igenex, is also tossed to the side.
I am an advocate for all who suffer and will do what I can to make this a priority to expose how negligent the powers that be are in treating people afflicted with Lyme/Co-infection. I guess you could say this is the straw that broke the camel's back when by husband almost died due to this infection(s).

Cat, I'm so happy for you and Toby that he is better and that his prognosis looks good. I'm praying for your strength and for his complete recovery.

Thank you so much. I am so sorry that happened to your family member Louise....just remembering that horrific accident 3 weeks ago makes me cringe and I really empathize with your loved ones. I absolutely feel blessed since the outcome could have been so much worse. Trav you are always a sweetheart and Mississippi thank you for your support. His prognosis so far does look good, but of course the medical pros don't see long time survival for him since he was diagnosed with ALS. We will fight this with Lyme treatments as we did before and not listen to any of that.

I'm so sorry for your husband's suffering. He is fortunate to have such a caring and strong wife. I hope he is feeling better.

So are you still looking into mHBOT? I have a contact that has healed from Lyme using mHBOT. Would you like to get in contact with them? I can either send her email to you or have her email you - whatever is best for you ......and only when you are ready for it!

Garden, I don't think it's possible to tie me down. I am just too feisty LOL. We should probably talk on the phone about the doctor in McMinneville. That would be farther than Scott and Liz's place.
Trav, I would love info. from someone else who has used MHBOT. I am wondering if it's okay to
use with a brain injury. The place we were going to go has a doctor on site so I guess I could always ask. It's expensive, but two people can use it at the same time. Do whatever you think is easier for her.

Thank you for the kind words Utah, Windy, and Elmesanoya. We are celebrating because it could have been far worse. His doctor told me that after reviewing the report, he couldn't believe Toby survived the injury. I don't think a person realizes how strong he/she is until faced with such a challenge.

Garden, It's supposed to be 81 degrees this weekend out our way. I hope you get the same nice weather. It will probably be the last of the summer type weather. I do so want to go to the Lyme support group, but Toby will need a little more time before we take that trip into Portland. (:

I heard that forecast. I keep thinking we've seen the last of summery weather, but it keeps coming back, so it may not be done yet. I hope you 2 can enjoy it and relax. You both need that.

You had mentioned maybe going to the group on your own, so that's why I was letting you know. I know he's not ready for anything like that. I'm sure you've had enough of driving into Portland any way. Enjoy the sunshine and take it easy.

Oh wow, Cat - that is about the sweetest thing ever!! Congratulations to the both of you....again!!!

My hubby and I went through a similar thing when he almost died and was subsequently permanently disabled - although there wasn't an actual exchange of vows or anything.

We are definitely much more close now than we've every been - due to his near death experiences and my serious issues with Lyme (possibly near death? sure felt like it). It's amazing when events like this bring two people closer rather than tearing the family apart like happens in other cases.

I too feel incredibly blessed to have such a man at my side - through it all.

Yeah, great news!! Continued healing Toby. Ive tried to explain my petiodic balance issues but I can tell in their eyes they dont understand when I say one second im walking fine the next second im tipping over, run into wall or have to catch myself.

I have read Roxie that many people with Lyme have balance issues. The symptoms are so varied, it's crazy. I hope all of you are careful, especially climbing steps. Toby had only one step going into the house when he fell backward. It never occurred to me that could happen. I love your signature bluebyyou....we have to keep moving forward no matter what.
