Do you know what tests you had done on your thyroid? If they were just checking the TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone)- like many do - this is not enough to know if you are having thyroid issues as this only checks to see if you have enough Thyroid Stimulating Hormone circulating in your blood. There are tests that need to be run to determine if you have enough T3, T4 and other hormones - and even that may not be enough to determine any issues.
I had to go to several doctors and had some scans done on my thyroid and I kept being told that everything was withing "normal" levels, although they were at the lower end of normal. I still was having issues with pills getting stuck right at the level of the thyroid in the throat. I finally got in to see a doc that believed me and she started running more tests - and then finally started me on Armour natural thyroid. It wasn't until I got up to around 1 grain of the thyroid med that the swelling on the back side of my thyroid went down and now I have no issues with swallowing pills again.
Too many doctors refuse to look past the most basic of tests.
