Oh, Jen - Houttuynia is a very strong herb for most of us! I'm so very sorry that you had such a hard herx!
Back down your dosage and detox like there's no tomorrow!

That should get you through this. If you need to stop the Houttuynia for a few days to stop the herxing, then be sure to do so!
Be very careful raising your dose back up though - go very slowly. Many like the tincture better because it's pretty simple to decide how many drops to increase, but remember to only increase one time a day - not both am and pm when you increase. I guess I'm odd - I liked the medicinal tea best as I could dilute it quickly and easily as I needed to.
What dose did you start off with?
But - something to keep in mind is that the reaction to foods that we are allergic to can cause arthritis symptoms too - I get them (as well as a ton of other things!) any time I mess up and get a hold of soy.
You can stop the Houttuynia for a few days if you aren't sure what's causing it - if the symptoms all settle back down and return when you restart the Houttuynia, then you know for sure that it was a herx from the Houttuynia.
Feel better soon!!!
