(I am asking for a good friend's mother.) Has anyone heard of relatively early onset dementia being a symptom of Lyme's or another tick borne illness?
They live near Dayton, OH, so I wanted to pass along info on LLMD's in their area in case they wanted to investigate that possibility.
Thank you!

I've heard of it and it wouldn't hurt her to be tested for it. Has she been on any medications long term? Some can contribute to brain problems. My mother was on one that had a side effect of "loss of one's sense of self and place" and that's what caused her decline and I had to place her in a care home.
If you're looking for an LLMD, I'd suggest you start a new thread with "Looking for LLMD near Dayton OH". That way more people will see that you're looking and hopefully have some suggestions for you. It's so nice of you to be helping her out. Keep us posted on how it goes if she gets tested so others can learn from it and so we know whether or not she has it. There are many knowledgeable, caring people on here. Encourage her to come here if she does have Lyme disease so she can learn more about
it and get support and understanding.
I'm reading more and more about
consuming too much grain contributing to mental decline too. I wish her the best!

Yes my husbands symptoms are personality changes like alzheimer's. Hopefully he will get better with treatment.

Hi Lisa,
Welcome to our community.
Here are some articles that can be presented to any doctor that needs them about
the possible link between Lyme and Alzheimers:

In this last one, there are many articles listed, some may not be helpful, but some of them may be exactly what your friend's mom may be experiencing.

And if you would send me an email, I have a LLMD listed in Worthington and I would be happy to share their contact information with you.
