MTHFR from Quest or LabCorp, any pointers, opinions?

Do these two labs offer a good version of this test?

I dont know where this test originated from.

A while back I asked about the importance of this test, so I'm thinking of going for it now.

I'm going to ask for this from a non LLMD- from one of these labs, it might be covered then too (I will ask for proper insurance coding that does NOT say lyme).

23 and me does not offer explanations now (thanks a lot FDA), I imagine its ditto for any other non standard lab too now.

(I like to call it the Monday THursday FRiday test so I can remember it.)

I did 23 and me. It's cheap and easy and you get all of your mutations. Then you can use genetic genie to get the methylation mutations summarized. Not an explanation of what it means, just a summary. I think it's way better than the blood test but that is me.

I did both. I did the MTHFR tests w/ LabCorp initially and then found out about the 23andme. I did that as well but haven't sent results in to genetic genie yet. In retrospect, I agree—just use 23andme and there are a couple of online sites that will develop the data into your list of mutations. For interpretation and treatment you'll need to do your own research or find a specialist.

I've done the MTHFR with labcorp, and now I'm going to do 23 and Me. My insurance will pay for labcorp (I guess), so it's no big deal.

Actually, there are websites out there that will interpret 23andme, and I think there are some good ones.

I can't remember if it was Razzle or AML who had a link to some websites.
