Besides the fact that so many Drs know nothing about Lyme Disease, or don't believe in it or say "wow, I didn't know that", when I fill them in, and besides the fact that so many people have to pay out of pocket for so many things - hear this
I was brought by ambulance to the ER this week because I lost so much blood from miscarrying at home. It was aweful. I was in the hospital for 12 hrs. They rehydrated me, brought my blood pressure back up from 89/55, and took an ultrasound only to confirm that there was still tissue left in me. After I explained to them that I was scheduled for a DNC the following day, I wanted to go ahead and get a cleaning and NOT take Cytotec (this is a medication that can bring down the rest of the miscarriage so that you don't have to get a DNC). What they don't tell you is that there is a chance you can end up bleeding for weeks after taking the pill, amongst other side effects. So long story short, after finally recovering enough to go home, the nurse shows up with the pill without the Dr even having consulted with me first. I WAS FURIOUS. So I didn't take the pill and ended up getting the DNC the next day, BUT
realize this - I tried my hardest to get a DNC LAST week. I was told on Jan 7th that I had a nonviable pregnancy. They scheduled me for a DNC 13 days later. May not sound like a big deal, but 13 days later, I was already 11 weeks - that was leaving me with a very good chance of miscarrying naturally, which is what happened.
So if they had put me in for Jan 16th, the Friday before, non of the miscarriage would have happened. My life would not have turned upside down for 3 days, I wouldn't be this weak, my heart wouldn't be racing every time I walk (due to blood loss), and I probably wouldn't have this tremendous headache. So even though I begged them to squeeze me in, they said "sorry no room" - I suffered tremendously for no reason, and my insurance got billed thru the roof because of my ER visit.
Go figure.
Just wanted to vent!!!
