Forum member "cd3764" posted this awesome link to a guide on the common Lyme antibiotics and their combinations. It is the clearest and easiest to understand of anything I've seen. Thanks, cd3764!
www.treatlyme.net/treat-lyme-book/kills-lyme-germs-a-brief-antibiotic-guideQuestions, especially for the moderators & vets on this forum. Any feedback is welcome:1. Can I rely on this info as sound science regarding the med combos? It makes sense to me, even though we all recognize that scientists are still determining/debating the various forms of the bacteria.
2. I'm focused on detoxing now to get my immune system back up. But when I'm up for it my doc has prescribed Biaxin if I want to take it. He also said he will prescribe Flagyl if I feel it's needed. But he's worried about
my liver being stressed. (Doxy made me sick & I may have developed an allergy to amoxi, so now on to Biaxin.) Thoughts? Experiences with this combo?
3. Based on this guide, I'm thinking I will fill the Biaxin and combine with Grapefruit Seed Extract instead of Flagyl. Thoughts? Experiences?
4. First my doc thought IV Rocephin would be my best choice if other meds didn't work. But if I have developed an allergy to penicillins, he says I'm not a candidate. Why does this matter if Rocephin isn't a penicillin? Is it because the mechanisms for both work with the cell the same way? I don't quite understand this logic. He also doesn't want to prescribe any 'cyst-busters' if he can't prescribe anything to then kill what escapes from the cysts if I can't have penicillin. Please help me understand whether this last theory makes sense, as I think there could be other abx I could take.
Many thanks for reading all of this, and thanks in advance for your help!
