This is for a person who has Lyme and ALS symptoms. He was likely exposed to chemicals used for chip polishing and maybe other chemicals too. Other employees there have had ALS. So I wanted to see what ideas you folks would have for the best things to get these chemicals out of his system. It has been in the news and more people are stepping forward to say they have it too.

It makes me so nervous about my daughter going into chemical engineering. She won't listen to anything I have to say about the risks and protecting herself.

I would say that it all depends on exactly what chemicals that person was exposed to - different chemicals require different thing to get the safely out of the body.

Hopefully someone here knows what chemicals might have been used and can offer some help!

I was hoping some of the news articles would say what chemicals were used, but no luck in the ones I was able to open. I imagine other computer companies could have the same problem if they do the same things. It's so sad that it's taking lives so fast. I'll dig around some more.

I am not sure what to recommend either but activated charcoal is used for excess chemical buildup. I am not certain of its safety of effectiveness in smaller capsule form doses but it is used by western medicine and naturopaths alike, so perhaps it would be something to consider.
It is very concerning that so many young professionals are being exposed to these harmful substances. A family member of mine also got his chemical engineering degree and I worry about the consequences of working in such an environment.
There was a recent study of a completely unrelated field, dental assistants, having low birth rates and high levels of birth defects from the chemicals used in dental offices.
Cilantro and parsley are natural detox herbs and may be helpful as well.

I personally don't know what things would detox these type of chemicals from the body.

The only doctor that I can think of that does specialized detoxification for environmental pollutants is here at this link:

Their specialty is detoxing patients from chemicals and environmental type illnesses. May be worth giving them a call and see if they have experience treating chemical exposure from computer chip processing.

I need to find out for sure which area he worked in. Some getting sick work in another area doing different work.

Thanks to both of you for your ideas. I'm familiar with those detox methods, but didn't know if they'd be adequate. I just want to help this family since they've had too much to deal with. Unfortunately, I don't think they could afford to go to Texas and I don't think he could travel now either.

My daughter interned at Wafer Tech last summer and they seem to want her to come back. I don't know if she was exposed to anything or not, but I don't think she was working with any chemicals directly. I raised her on an organic diet and grew vegies for fresher food, hoping she'd learn the importance of them, but no such luck. We've been paying for her food at college, telling her to buy organic and she called us a few times to ask if we were sure we wanted to keep paying for it since it cost more. I told her that her health was more important than the money and to continue doing it. Hopefully she'll buy organic when she's on her own. I'm guessing not since she has some big college bills to pay off. We did not expect her to go into that field at all and never saw it coming. She's doing great and we're proud, but concerned.
