Scared to take IV Levaquin. Anyone have any experience with this drug?

I just started IV Rocephin. My main symptom is neuropathy (stabbing, numbness) of hands and feet but otherwise I am pretty functional. My doctor wants to add in IV Levaquin and I am terrified after reading the black box warning on the drug and some of the comments on the internet. Anyone have any experience with this drug positive or negative? I took Flagyl about a year ago and it made my neuropathy so much more worse and took months to recover from it.

I wouldn't touch any fluoroquinolones (Levaquin, Cipro, etc.).  Two doses of this drug attacked my central nervous system (cns).  I suffered horribly for 3 years.  I really do believe that Levaquin allowed dormant Lyme to proliferate because of a compromised immune system.  Please do look up the effects of the fluoroquinolones.

I've been treating for 5 years (including IV for 16 months) and have tolerated most every ABX combo in the book. Last November I was prescribed oral Levaquin for one last hit at a stubborn strain of Bart or BLO. I was fully aware of the risks and doubled my dose of Magnesium for a week before starting the script.

about 10 days into the 30 day course I started to feel tightness on my left achilles tendon, and a few days later it worsened, so immediately I stopped taking it. It has taken over four months for most of the tendonitis to go away. I can still feel a little discomfort, especially in the morning, but consider myself lucky that this was the only side-effect. I'll never take any fluoroquoinolone again.

In my opinion its not worth the risk, unless its a life or death situation.
