I've been on Mepron since Mid Febuary for Babesia but everytime I add another antibiotic to it I have some bad effect. I tried adding Bactrim last month and I had really bad breathing problems which could of been a herx, but also I had trouble swallowing and somtime my throat felt swelled. This happended when I went on Bactrim previously.

So now I'm supposed to be on Mepron and Azithro but after starting on the azithro (500mg 1 daily) I started getting a muscle tightness/pressure in my left chest. A week later I started the other dose and was taking 500mg twice daily. The chest tightness continued and I started noticing my heart would pound hard after any small exertion and some small flutters. So I stopped the azithro and the pressure went down 60-70% in a few days.

But still had pounding and flutter's so I went to the E.R. They did an EKG and took an x-ray and everything looked fine. I've heard the warnings about azithro and heart problems and that freaked me out. I'm bummed because I've heard azithro and mepron are the best babesia combo. I have an allergy to cipro, maybe bactrim and azithro so I feel like I'm running out of options.

My LLNP thinks it could be a herx but with the heart warning with azithro I don't know what to think, its scary.

So I was wondering....

If I should continue the Azithro, are those normal side effects?
Are there other Mepron antibiotic combos that are good for Babesia?

I am also inclined to think it's a herx, as I had a scary tight chest when I was on doxy!

Crap! I just started Azithro., and I have asthma as well as heart issues (I mean, had those before I started it).

It really helps with Babs.
