Faithfully following my Dr k protocol. Thrown for a loop on Tuesday... Told at Hamilton mcmaster teaching hosp that I have fascioscapulohumerol muscular dystrophy.......gave bloods genetic/DNA testing underway. Makes sense... Shoulders rounded, shoulder blades winging.. Mouth drooling.etc...... Can I possibly have md and lyme too. Very positive on the Igenix test.... So confused and feeling very uptight right now..
Wishing there was more help in Canada on the muscular dystrophy side of this. Any comments very very welcome. Feeling so depressed.

Do any of your symptoms fall outside of muscle dystrophy?

If I'm not mistaking Lyme can actually cause muscle dystrophy?

Was the diagnosis based just on symptoms and a physical exam?

I read that 95% of people have symptoms by age 20. I dont know how old you are or how long youve had symptoms but do you fit that group?

I am also wondering if you have symptoms that dont fit with that diagnosis.

Lyme is misdiagnosed as ALS, MS, Parkinsons, and other ailments - so I wouldnt be surprised if this was the case, especially since you had a positive Igenex test.

Are you currently treating your lyme disease? If so, for how long and have you noticed any improvement or herxes?

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I have read that Lyme can cause so many awful conditions like ALS and Parkinson's.

I don't have an answer, but please hang in there! Don't lose hope that you're going to get better!
