So, after 4 "hits" of rocephin, the only improvement I had was better sleep. None of my other symptoms improved. My LLMD wanted to switch things up. My new protocol is:
IV Zithromax
Mepron
Rifampin
She feels that I have all three bugs: babs,Bart, Lyme....and then some...(chlymadia pneumonia, mycoplasma....).
She also admonished me for not telling her that I had been taking cortisol for my adrenals for the last 2 years. Well.....I did write it down on the initial paperwork asking me to list all meds! She had me taper off the cortisol because she feels that it interferes with the Lyme.
She put me on a supplement called Cortisol Manager. It is an adaptogen and hopefully will keep my cortisol levels from spiking in the morning causing my morning panic attacks. She wants me to do a cortisol saliva test.
She also did an EKG before she would allow me on zith. She said that she was actually shocked that I had a "clean" EKG considering my infections. She expected to see heart involvement, but everything looks good. Finally.....some good news.
So, for now, I have to keep driving to her office 3 times a week for the IV's. She wants me to do this for 2 weeks. I hate needles! This is such torture!
I wanted to deny that I have Lyme. But she said, "you are positive on band 31 and IND on 39......you have Lyme.....no question!" And, my Germany lab was very positive for 2 strains of Borrelia.
So, off I go. Back to Albany to get more IV's. Yuck!
