c-reactive protein & differential white blood cell blood count?

How beneficial would it be to have blood testing completed for c-reactive protein and differential white blood cell count?

C-Reactive protein measures inflammation. However, it was not very useful for me because mine did not show up. I'm not sure how accurate it is. Nonetheless, my insurance covered it. It was not very expensive. Everyone is so different too. I clearly have inflammation. I don't know why it did not register as high.

I'm not sure about the differential white blood cell count. Did you have a high WBC count? I have just gotten the standard blood panel testing.

Wbc is at 9.7 . So no its not past the threshold.

I'm not sure why your doc would want the differential WBC count. You could ask.

The one thing I have learned about blood panel tests is that the meaning of the values can be interrelated and depend on each other. You really need training to read them.

If you're borderline, it might be a retest or to get more info.

I forgot to mention last night that a high WBC count can indicate infection or inflammation. However, you can have a perfectly normal blood panel and have chronic or long term Lyme, as well as inflammation.

I had normal lab results, except for Lyme.

Most regular doctors don't understand this.

Lyme disease is an inflammatory infection - although the inflammation that it causes most often is in between our cells, not in a joint or whatever.

I've had high WBC & RBC at the same time, as well as one at a time and also both being in 'normal' ranges, so it can be all over the place.

Interesting Trav! That could explain why my C-Reactive Protein was normal. I'm going back on my anti-inflammatory because I was doing better with it.
