I'm kind of confused about
this...
I'm on a relatively new medication for Bartonella. At first I didn't notice much, but lately I have noticed a significant improvement in ONE of my symptoms, but not any of my other Bart symptoms.
Does that make sense? Or should the medication be getting rid of all the symptoms at once if it's working?

Any improvement is a good sign! It's different for everyone.

I've been consistently treating since September of last year and can tell you that my experience has been a bit of a roller coaster ride.
When I first started with my LLMD, I had 2 super-mild and transient symptoms.
My LLMD noted Bells Palsy that neither I nor my family noticed until I repeated at home the cheek-puffing he had me do in his office. It was then we noticed the weakness on the left side of my face.
My LLMD recommended I start ABX immediately and I'm glad I did. I tested CDC positive for Lyme.
Since starting treatment with the LLMD, I have experienced close to 40 different symptoms (not all at the same time thankfully)
Some symptoms got better or even disappeared. I've had new ones appear. If I started to plateau (no change in symptoms between LLMD visits), my LLMD switched up my meds.
As of late January, I was down to 2 super-mild symptoms and that's when my LLMD wanted me to transition to an herbal protocol.
Well, I had the biggest and worst herx I ever had when I got up to 3 lousy drops of the herbals!
I was down to 1 symptom last week (yay!) when it was time to change the antimicrobials I'd been taking. I must admit I was a bit scared lol
I had one symptom return....and the other one is better. Whew :)
As of this moment (it can change in a a few minutes :), I don't have the symptom that returned and the other one remains better.
I think treating Lyme and Co's is basically and up and down process....symptoms come and go during treatment....and they s-l-o-w-l-y reduce in number and frequency.....until they finally dissipate for good.
It's an insanely long process.

I hear what you are saying! I should be happy with my one specific symptom almost going away, but instead I focus on another one that just won't budge!!! It's like it doesn't want to leave me!

That's how I felt about
what I call my "buzzing" sensations. I developed them when I first started ABX and just couldn't shake them.
They "reduced" to what I called my "humming" sensations.....and then they finally disappeared after two months on the herbal protocol!!!
Unfortunately, the buzzing sensation in my left knee returned after I started the latest-greatest antimicrobials...it's more of a post-dose herx vs. consistent symptom.
That's how it's been for me on the herbals once I got over that "starter herx" - I'd herx a little (nothing dramatic) after each dose and go back to baseline by the time of the next dose.
I wasn't herxing at all for the past few weeks. Yes, switching up the antimicrobials changed that but the difference is huge compared to where I was at last fall.
I'm soooo improved overall....so much so that I think "regular" people deal with more symptoms than I have right now.
Treating Lyme & Co's requires a very, very, very, very patient patient ;)

Have others experienced some symptoms that easily went away and others that were just a BI*CH?! Stubborn and didn't want to budge??!

Runnergirl - I have lost some symptoms...but if you ask me, I usually say I haven't improved much...because....many, many more have not budged. And one of my worst ones - the nerve pain on my upper left side is still there unfortunately.
What's improved or gone for me: foot pain, rib pain, swollen and tender lymph node, tinglies on my scalp, my anxiety/panic/gagging attacks in middle of night. I have even noticed lately my tailbone pain is somewhat better. (I can tell because, I'm not noticing it as much anymore)
Sounds good on paper...but I really don't feel like I'm much better.

I'm the same as you Girlie. All I can focus on are the symptoms that AREN'T going away. It feels like they never will...
