Hi all, the good news is I am still doing very well. Kicked Lyme, now trying to send off the Babesia. Only a couple of stubborn symptoms left. The other great news is my son is getting married. His fiance wants an outdoor wedding in the south. I am worried about the bugs and also the heat as I cannot tolerate it. I do not have details yet but am already concerned about being outside.

Any tips besides bug spray to avoid bugs while outside at such an event? Not even sure what to wear as most dresses are polyester or silk both too hot for the south.

I thought I read about a drink concoction that would make me unattractive to bugs? anyone know about this?

Of course once again I will be the oddball worried about things no one else will care about. Only this forum understands my concerns.

Some essential oils might help, but I don't have much experience with them. I just know that cats can't tolerate many of them, just in case you have one and decide to use them.

Nylons could keep them away from your legs, but might be too hot also.

Outdoor weddings are so nice, so I hope you can find a way to protect yourself and stay cool enough to enjoy the day. Sorry I don't have other ideas.

I will check into essential oils thanks for the tip. They might be better than being covered with DEET!

Make sure you talk to someone who knows how to use them. I think most, if not all are diluted in a carrier oil before applying. And keep them away from cats. I was hoping someone with more experience would chime in and give you more info. on using them.

There are 2 brands that are most used, but my stressed, tired brain isn't recalling the names. They aren't cheap either.

Try a search on home made or natural insect repellents and see what comes up. It might be easier than using EOs. REI might have some. Other outdoor stores may have some too.
