Those who make tinctures themselves...

Hi guys,

For those of you who make tinctures themselves, do you find that they actually work compared to a tincture prepared by an herb company like WE or Elk Mountain? I have been looking into starting to make some tinctures, as it will cut my costs on tinctures in half, but for some reason I'm hesitant because I feel it won't work as well.

What kind of alcohol/what proof do you use? I've also read that some herbs need lemon juice or Apple Cider Vinegar to work better.

I've been making my own few select tinctures for a few years now. I started off with a high quality tincture (Gaia herbs) and then made my own, while being guided by the Master Herbalist that I was seeing at the time. I experienced no difference in effectiveness.

So I moved on to make some more tinctures, and they have been very effective for me as well. It's really not that complicated or hard, especially if you use the "folk method" of herbal tinctures. If you do a web search for "folk method of herbal tinctures", you will get all kinds of results.
