I'm glad you found this site.
With all due respect, that ID MD cannot be taken seriously with that sort of unprofessional and ignorant attitude. It's based in fear and laziness and drinking too much of his own koolaid.
Yes, once you are exposed to borrelia burgdorferi (although "exposed" really means "infected") you have it. You cannot be sorta pregnant and you cannot kinda have a little lyme but not really have it. Bands indicate a presence of lyme, or they don't. Period. "IND" means it's there or nothing would show up on that band. Including IND in the tests have done many many ill people a disservice.
Please let him know, that YOU know, that "fibro" is simply a name given to a set of symptoms. It is not a proper diagnosis of the cause of those symptoms. And if you're feeling brave, let him know that throwing that diagnosis at you is lazy and falls way short of your goal and HIS responsibility of solving the question of WHY, which is what specialists like LLMDs are willing and capable of doing, given their knowledge and experience with tick born infections and the multitude of other infections ticks are known to carry and infect people with.
Also ask him what his plans are for testing you for ANY of the other bacterial, fungal, viral or parasitic infections that most ticks carry. He'll say he wasn't planning on it, because he won't know how or what to look for. A good LLMD won't fail to cover his/her bases.
Let him take all the tests he wants, they will come handy in ruling out anything else and your LLMD will be grateful the ID got this administrative business out of the way so that he/she can focus on successful diagnosis and treatment. At least the ID is good for something...
In my opinion, this ignorance and vitriol over lyme has developed out of a perfect storm:
...out of a political and financially driven greed,
…out of the shift in healthcare to control by big pharma that won't do necessary research unless it can profit from it, and the only profit that can be made from lyme is in vaccines,
...legislation that allowed patents on bacteria,
...managed healthcare that is profit driven,
…a situation that involves cover ups and manipulation of studies and reports and guidelines that runs so deep and is so overtly and irresponsibly corrupt, that they cannot walk it backward,
...and it's a result of a drive toward VERY lucrative vaccinations and if they tell the truth about
how many people are really infected, not enough people will be able to get vaccinated for them to "meet their margins" (make the profit).
that's the short version, anyway.
