Herbal Protocol

I'm seeing a licensed Natur­o­pathic Doc­tor on July 7 that treats Lyme Disease (this is a LLND, right? Is this the kind of doctor I want to see?)

She is a mem­ber of the Inter­na­tional Lyme and Asso­ci­ated Dis­eases Soci­ety (ILADS) and received a schol­ar­ship to train with Dr. Charles Ray Jones MD in Con­necti­cut, who is arguably one of the top Lyme Dis­ease prac­ti­tion­ers in the US. (states the clinics website)

I was just thinking my case is a more difficult one of Lyme Disease as I have neurological Late Lyme and apparently only 10-20% of cases are neurological from what I've read on the internet and they are difficult to treat because of the blood brain barrier. Would treating with herbal protocol and/or oral medication from this doctor even help me? I've read things like I would need IV antibiotics to even help me in my case. My only symptoms from Lyme are 24/7 dizziness like walking on a boat, tingling in my back, nausea, weight loss and extreme fatigue. Any thoughts? Does Herbal Protocol and or/oral antibiotics treat this?

My worst symptoms were neurological. I haven't been on any antibiotics, just herbs, Argentyn 23 silver, and plaquenil (anti-malarial), and my neuro symptoms have cleared up drastically. Everyone's situation is unique, so they will respond differently to different treatments. If you're open to herbs, it's definitely worth trying.

JessicaMommy- I was infected for 40 years and had massive Neuro issues as well as the physical issues due to these infections. I healed (twice now!) using only herbal protocols.

As long as this doc is using one of the recognized herbal protocols that work for these infections, then you won't do any worse than if you used abx, and maybe better, as many people seem to tolerate the herbal protocols better than abx.

Of course, just because the doc is a Naturopath, doesn't mean they don't use abx either.

And, about the "only 10- 20% are Neurological" - then they all must find their way here! We have a high percentage of members with Neuro symptoms, including myself and my husband.

And please ask all the questions you need too!! Knowledge is the only way you will beat this incredibly complex set of infections!

Ok thanks Nosila. I'm just hoping it doesn't get too pricey because I do have 4 children and with only my husband working, we don't have a lot of extra money.

It's nice to hear you are having some improvement. That must be a relief for you. I don't suffer from joint pain so /I cannot relate. But the memory fog I can. But like I said it is my off balance feeling 24/7 that makes me unable to function some days and its really, really hard to deal with. I'm seeing a neurologist to rule out anything else that could be contributing to this feeling besides Lyme, next month. I'm excited to meet with a LLND.

Yes she would be a LLND.

I have neurological lyme, and I am treating with both oral antibiotics and herbs. Many people heal without using IV antibiotics.

Let us know what your protocol is when you find out.

Yes Trav - on the 10-20% have Neurological - when I initially read that, it bothered me...as I thought "Oh no! I'm going to be one of the tougher cases"...but I see I'm in good company...lots of neurological lyme in this community.

Yes, I have. I had anxiety, bouts of depression, cried a lot....for awhile i thought i was losing my mind.
My poor hubby was driving home for his lunch break - he was so worried about me. I had NEVER had mental health issues in my life - no PMS, no postpartum depression....nothing....

I also got overwhelmed very easily...couldn't discuss anything in depth with my husband. I couldn't watch much on t.v. - couldn't watch the news...everything upset me.

My brain wasn't working well, either. I actually drove for two months without insurance on the car - never done that before. When the papers came in the mail, I filed them away with the paid bills....Good thing I never had an accident!!!

It's much better now...but not entirely - today we sold our tent trailer...and the guy handed me the cash...and I started counting the hundreds and twenties, but kept losing track ....so I had him count it in front of me...and still couldn't keep track...so just hoped he gave me the right amount. Hubby was busy doing something else...and I checked it later...when I was alone...and did it really slowly, and luckily it was correct.
My balance is off...not as bad though as it was.

I also have the pain - it's not fun either.

I am hoping that I get abx for bartonella when I have my appt. on Monday - and they kick butt.
