THIS! This is what is going on with me! Nearly all of the possible reasons as to why I've been having such issues with food, they all tie into this, histamine intolerance.
I don't know what exactly's causing it. The obvious answer, Antonio, (duh) is that it's likely a number of the things listed as "causative agents."
The first step is the diet. But, again, sadly, the recommended dietary intake conflicts with what's suggested for some of my other problems (candida, phenols, etc).
"Diet: no fermented foods, no leftovers, no citrus, only FRESH fish or no fish, no alcohol, no aged foods. This includes cheeses, wines and processed meats. Limit protein intake to about 0.8 grams protein/2.2 lbs of body weight as protein provides histidine. Histidine transforms to histamine. Eat more fatty foods (healthy – like ghee) and whole grains (quinoa, wild rice). A more ketogenic diet would be great – but some cannot tolerate this (due to adrenal fatigue and electrolyte imbalance)." Both because of candida as well as the phenol/salicylate intolerance connection, those grains, the rice and quinoa, along with all the rest, and the coconut and olive oil, they are bad for me. I've experienced the negative effects firsthand. They may be recommended for those with histamine intolerance, but, something else in them causes a similar reaction - I've read that both coconut and olive oil are high in phenols. See, it's all connected.
I plan to try ghee, and I suppose I can give quinoa a shot, but what else is there, after all has been lost to the candida, leaky gut, phenol/salicylate, AND low histamine diets? Nothing.
Also, as is mentioned, the ketogenic diet isn't a reasonable option for me, considering I KNOW that all of this stuff has stressed the hell out of my adrenals, which I'm pretty sure is starting to have an effect on my thyroid.
This has been a gradual thing. Looking back, each food I lost, I had these reactions. All of them, higher in histamine than the last, worse for those with leaky gut, etc. It all slowly built up, slowly starved me down to nothing.
I wish I'd have connected the dots sooner, before I got so overloaded, developed all these different ailments, and started having reactions to everything I put in me.
I'm getting the testing done through 23andme, so I'll know if I'm a victim of any of these mutations that worsen it, but, again, it all starts with the diet. I won't be able to try and treat/supplement for, this stuff, if I can't feed my body what it needs without having such severe reactions that just cancel out what little good my treatment is doing by damaging my body, my mind, further.
It's the same conclusion I've been reaching, these past couple weeks.
Simply put:
"Your issues could be caused by ailment A, ailment B, or ailment C."
"Here's what you need to do about
it."
"The first step - your diet."
Same conclusion - hopeless.
Sigh.
EDIT:
LOL.. someone in the comments section. Why is this person still alive?
"Thanks for this info. Just trying to figure out if I have histamine intolerance. I am heterozygous MTFHR, have Hashimoto’s, stage 2 adrenal fatigue, hormonal imbalances, leaky gut, malabsorption, dysbiosis, elevated fructosamine levles, food intolerances, and many of the symptoms you list."
Good God. Fatal wounds.
