What causes COLD INTOLERANCE? is it a co infection or LYME itself?

what i mean by cold intolerance is a feeling of not being able to get warm or freezing in a warm room where others in the same room are fine. I have had this cold intolerance since this all started back in 2012. My LLMD says the cold intolerance is from bartonellosis but nothing I can find online backs that up, I just see that it says Lyme causes temperature regulation problems? IS it the lyme itself that causes this cold intolerance or is it a co infection like my LLMD said the bartonellosis.

Basically looking for others knowledge on this topic.....thanks

I have that, too. I am shivering but it's warm...I believe it's nervous system related.

I'm glad to read that it could be from bart - because I have been treating lyme for several months, and that symptom has not budged. My LLND and I both suspect I have bart, but he didn't say whether that symptom was bart or not.

That makes me feel better...because i was feeling like I might be stuck with this symptom...and I hate it.

I hope your LLMD is right and it's bart...then when I treat bart...hopefully it will resolve.

I agree with Sayyadina. I also think that Lyme and other Co-Infections can cause very similar symptoms at times. Frequently, they have subtle distinctions. It helps to look at the big picture for clues. If you have a lot of Babesia symptoms, that would be a strong indicator that the chills are likely Babesia.

I have a lot of temperature issues. My cold intolerance has improved a fair amount. I have been treating Lyme, Babs and Bart. So, it is hard to say what helped. I think I noticed it improving after taking Artemisinin for Babs. It could have been other meds that helped though or a combination of meds because it has not been cold here for a while. Right now, I'm dealing with extreme heat intolerance. I can't wait until I have normal temperature tolerance. It is hard on all of us! I'm sorry you guys are struggling too!

That kind of cold intolerance is a red flag for hypothyroidism.

I experienced that a few months ago when my hypothyroidism was so extreme I had to go to the ER.

Are you gaining weight and/or do you have a slow heart rate, and a low temperature?

Margaret - My thyroid is fine...and I'm not gaining weight. ( I initially lost weight, now have gained some back, but holding for several months now).

So, for me it doesn't appear to be thyroid.

All I'm saying is myeezy should get her thyroid checked to rule that out.

The way she described it, it sounded like me a few months ago.

And yes, Lyme and Cos are culprits too.

^^^Iv had my theriod tested each time I have been to my LLMD, each time the results are normal therefore that it ruled out, He has it in his mind that the bartonella causes the cold intolerance ,

i told him about the air hunger last time i saw him and disgnosed be with babesia based on that, so i have lyme bartoenlla and babeisa but he was certain the cold intolerence was from bart

im just looking for more information to back that up

I'm cold intolerant when I'm not having a hot sweat or some kind of hot thing from Bart. or Babs. So that means I'm either cold or hot.

And when it's humid, I can't breathe!

I think Lyme causes just about every symptom know to humans.

Oh, the BABS/BART combo is a bad one, partly because they often flare at the same time.

At least it's not your thyroid.

I have Lyme without bart. I am always cold. I was told that Lyme lowers your temperature to accommodate itself. that is why higher temperatures (baths, saunas etc.) can cause a herx. I am not sure of scientific research but anecdotally it is true.

makes sense why i herx after a steam detox bath or a sauna then, i think its bab too becuz it affects ur red blood cells my hands and feet get cold way to easily which never happened before i was infected

Yes, my hands and feet get cold very quickly as well. Some winters I suffer from Raynauds.
