Hi all,

I won't bore you with a long post about all my symptoms, but I started having a number of issues 6 years ago after withdrawing from some medication. I have healed a great deal (probably 90%) by taking no medications and focusing on self care and wellness, but I am a ways from where I once was.

Enter Lyme disease. I have had a doctor tell me she was convinced this was my issue and ordered the test from iGeneX. However, the results were not clear to me and she could not explain them. Could a Lyme-wise individual who understands the iGeneX test help me decipher the results?

The IFA was 80, which is the threshhold of a positive result, and it says it mush be confirmed by the IgM and IgG tests.
IgM iGeneX - Negative
IgM CDC - Negative
IgG iGeneX - Negative
IgG CDC - Negative

Does this mean I am negative? She wrote on the slip "might be positive" based on the IFA and gave me the names of a clinic in Idaho and another in Germany who does "energetic photon therapy." I am willing to go to the ends of the Earth for my health, but before I drain my savings I'd like to know that the test is indeed positive.

I am so glad you found us...so we can help you with this.

You need to look at the bands of the test. Even though your overall result was Igenex and CDC negative...you may have positive bands.

Could you post again - look on the results sheet and you will see:

IGENEX IGM RESULT
and underneath the bands (they have numbers beside them) will be listed with either + - or IND
and sometimes ++ or +++ or +++

The + means that band is positive. The - means negative and the IND means there was something, just not strong enough to show up as a +

Then on next page you will see:
IGENEX IGG RESULT with the same thing - the bands identified by numbers and then a - + or IND result beside each.

Sorry if this is confusing...I'm trying to explain what to look for - and I'm not doing a good job!

Thank you for your response. So, here is what it says...

Under IgM, it has:
18 - +
31 - IND
39 - IND
41 - ++
83-93 - ++
All others are "-"

This one is confusing because of the two "IND" and because it says if only 41 and 83-93 are present it's a negative result, and also the overall status is "Negative."


Under IgG, it has:
41 - +
All others are "-"

Thoughts?

Lyme tends to cause symptoms that come and go. You might feel fine for periods and then BAM you don't. It is very typical of Lyme.

You have some Lyme specific bands, 31, 39 and 83-93. Although 31 and 39 are IND, they should be considered because you have shown a response there. You cannot be sort of pregnant. Either you are or you are not.

Based on your results, I think you should see a Lyme Literate doctor ("LLMD"). If you would like help finding one, please let us know.

To find a LLMD, you can start a new thread titled: "Looking for LLMD in/near_______" and insert your city/town and State.

Also, you need to enable your email address so members can send you names of LLMD's.

to do this: Click on "My Profile", then click on "Edit Profile"...then click on "Show my email", then click on "submit" to save the changes.

We aren't allowed to post the LLMD"s names on the forum, so that's why members will have to email you.
