Hi,
I have had my CD57 test done again after a month of antibiotics and have seen no progress. My Abs.CD8-CD57+ lymph has remained at a 21 and my % has gone from a .8 to a 1.1. Can anyone tell me the different between the Abs and the %? Also had anyone else had something similar or any advice? I am planning on talking to my doctor this week to see what she thinks. Here is what my antibiotic protocol looks like:

MONDAY AM: septra, flagyl, biaxin PM: Septra, biaxin, flagyl
TUESDAY AM: septra, flagyl, biaxin PM: Septra, flagyl, biaxin, diflucan
WEDNESDAY AM: Septra, flagyl, biaxin PM: Septra, flagyl, biaxin
THURSDAY AM: Septra, flagyl, biaxin PM: Septra, flagyl, biaxin
FRIDAY AM: zithromax, malarone, biaxin PM: biaxin, diflucan
SATURDAY AM: zithromax, malarone, biaxin PM: Biaxin
SUNDAY AM: Zithromax, malarone, biaxin PM: Biaxin
I then have a 4 day break free of all medicine and start back on the monday schedule after the break.

I am also still have really bad side effects from the meds such as racing heart, nausea and vomiting, fatigue and weakness.

I don't think the CD57 is something you can rely on to rate your progress.

So your protocol - looks like you are targeting lyme, bartonella, and babesia?

One month is really still early on in treatment to see much change.

I'm thinking the racing heart, nause and vomiting, fatigue and weakness - some of those, if not all could be a herx.

Did you start all those meds the same week? Or start with a couple, then the next week a few more, etc.?

My doctor has me on a 3 month treatment, so I guess that is why I was hoping to see progress after just one month. She was expecting the antibiotics to get rid of lyme by the end of my treatment. I have been getting frustrated because I was not showing many Lyme symptoms before I was diagnosed. I was accidentally diagnosed through giving routine blood work and noticing a high c-reactive protein level of 32.

I take that schedule of medicine for 7 days and then have a 4 day break of taking nothing. I then start back on Monday's schedule and go through another 7 days and so on. So each week I am taking all of those meds but each day is a little different as posted in the example. She had me start on all of them full dosage from the beginning.

Well, I think that would cause one heck of a herx!!

If the symptoms are unmanageable - and don't calm down on the 4 days off, you might want to back off on the dose on the next 'cycle'.

Are you doing enough to detox? That is crucial.

If you have chronic lyme, then one month really isn't very long on treatment to see improvements - some people do, but many do not.

The symptoms are a lot better on the 4 day break to where I almost feel normal. However, starting back after the 4 day break makes me feel terrible!

I have been taking detox baths and trying to drink a lot of water. Do you have any other recommendations for detoxing?

Since I am unsure of when I was bit, my doctor believes it is chronic lyme due to my lab results but is not sure. I was hoping 3 months of treatment would just knock it out!

Some more detox:

You could add freshly squeezed lemon juice into some of the water glasses (drink through a straw , though, as it can damage the tooth enamel)

Dry brush you skin prior to the baths.

Take a binder - such as activated charcoal...but it needs to be taken a few hours away from any meds, supplements...as it will bind everything and usher it out of the body.

I also use Nutramedix burbur (detox) and Brain-Nerve cleanse and they help immensely.

Do you go for walks - are you able? The light exercise gets the lymph glands going and helps as well.

Are you taking anything to support liver function...like Milk Thistle seed extract? But, if you have an allergy to ragweed, don't take it!!!

Please do more detoxing, with that heavy of a protocol, you definitely need to do a lot more!

And how long were you infected? 3 months is only for those that have only just been infected and have nearly no symptoms. Is your doctor ILADS trained?

Do you have any suggestions for detoxing?

I'm not sure when u was infected since I never had the Bulls-eye rash. The symptoms that I had I thought were just normal or due to other things like EBV. I was tired with back pain, joint pain and TMJ but some of those symptoms I've had for about 10 years. Yea my doctor is ILADS trained.

Are you eating healthy? Lots of fresh veggies, good protein...and eliminate or greatly reduce your intake of sugar, simple carbs, gluten, dairy is also a good idea.

Maybe the 3 month plan is just on those particular meds...as Trav said 3 months is not long enough for a chronic infection.

Update: Since my Dr. has seen no progress in my lab results she has taken me off of antibiotics for a full week and is starting me on this:


1) Doxycycline 100mg. 1 pill twice a day
2) Metronidazole 500mg. 1 pill twice a day only 3 days a week
3) Rifampin 300mg. 1 pill twice a day for the other 4 days a week
4) Malarone 250/100 1 pill twice a day for 3 days
5) Weekly Rocephin IM injections.

Has anyone been on a protocol like this and was successful?

I am going to get a second opinion with a different LLMD July 27th to see her thoughts since she has more experience working with individuals with a genetic component like MTHFR, who have a hard time getting rid of toxins

You are definitely going to need to be doing a lot to help your body detox!

It would likely be best if you would start a new thread with this information. That way you will get more views and more opinions.
