I am new here but have read over the sticky threads about lyme. It started amost 2 years ago. I thought I had a kidney infection. Started with pain in my lower back. Went to medexpress ended up with antibiotics. Started taking them but i felt worse. Started getting a racing heart, brain fog. was shaky in my hands. Abdominal pains. Went to the hospital a few times. Had xrays and blood tests (never for lyme though) I was told it was just muscloskeletal pains and given a pain killer.

It eventually stopped until this past March/April. After I got home from work I had a pain in my neck, my heart started beating real fast and I felt like i was going to pass out. Had to get up and walk outside to feel better. Over the last few months I have had many symptoms,

Pressure headache
Tingle sometimes in my hands
Pressure in my head
Feeling dizzy sometimes
Feel a pressure feeling in my chest
Heart races occasionally
eyes sometimes hurt
sharp quick pains in my head that can migrate to different areas
quick sharp pains in my abdomen region

Thats all i can think of right now. Im scared. Recently I have been having these sharp pains in head that come for a split second and go. does that a few times in the morning only.

Do you think I have lyme?
IF so what should I do, as I do not have health insurance yet, wont have it for a couple more months until it kicks in from work.

Hi jfinnkma91 - welcome to our community! This is a great place for help, and support.

Your constellation of symptoms certainly could be indicative of Lyme disease.

Have you been to your Dr. since the new symptoms started this past March/April? And, if so, have you been tested for other possible causes - or I guess you're waiting for health insurance to kick in first?

You might want to consider getting an Igenex Lyme Western Blot IgM and IgG test. Now, these tests are not reliable, many false negatives...but it may show some positive 'bands'.

You also should consider seeing a LLMD (Lyme Literate MD) - and have him/her evaluate you - looking at your symptom history, along with results of the Igenex test...will determine whether you have lyme disease.

I have not seen another doctor since the return of my symptoms. I lost my health insurance so the costs would be too high. I have never had any tests for lyme disease.

If you do get a test - go through the Igenex lab in California. They will send you a test kit, if you call and ask for one.

The Lyme Western Blot IgM and IgG costs a little over $200 for both - plus the Fedex charge to ship it. I guess you'd be paying for a lab fee as well? So maybe about $300 in total?

If funds are tight, that is the best one for the money.

Just so you know - even with health insurance - many LLMD's won't take it...and you may be paying out of pocket anyway...
