I know there is no correct answer to this question and it is the question everyone has, but how do you make decisions about herbals while also balancing the finances?
I know much of it is trial and error. And if I had a magic ball I would know whether it would be worth it to keep on a more expensive herb for a shorter time than having to treat longer with possibly a less expensive/potent herb.
I have been treating for 2 1/2 months (sick for 2+ years before being diagnosed) and am mixing Cowden herbs with other meds (Biaxin/Plaquenil/Mepron) to treat mostly Babesia.
Cowden was the first protocol I heard about and jumped right into it. I feel like I am in that murky area of not knowing if anything is helping. My air hunger has gotten worse (possibly a herx), but my brain fog has lifted the past 2 weeks (thank goodness!)
To save a little, I am switching over from Samento to Cat's Claw. But the Banderol and Enula (for babesia) are very expensive and each bottle only lasts 10 days. So I am thinking of slowly transitioning to Buhner's protocol which seems a little more affordable.
But my main question is: I have been treating with Cowden's protocol for 2 1/2 months, should I stick it out to at least 6 months or would it be okay to make the transition to Buhner? I know it takes much longer that 2 1/2 months to do much of anything, but I wouldn't want to switch if it would mean I would lose the ground I have gained.
Also, is there such a thing as taking too many different herbs? For babs, I am on Enula and just started Artemisinin and am thinking of also taking Sida Acuta.
I know there is not a correct/easy answer, but I thought those veterans might give me some insight into their own thought process when balancing herbs/finances.
BTW, I am seeing a LLMD who is very good and believes in herbs as well, but his expertise I think is more in the pharmaceuticals.
Thank you!! I have learned so much from reading on this forum for the past few months and found my doctor through lovely people who responded to my first email when searching for an LLMD.
