cool, I get that sauerkraut from wholefoods as well :) I don't eat it every day though, but I can tell you that following a very tight veggie, lentil, bean, wild rice, light fruit diet has been extremely helpful for me. I don't eat meat and keep fat intake very low, even healthy fats, as my doc who dx'd me with protomyxzoa hammered home the importance of low fat. And lowering my fat intake helped my pain quite a bit. I don't know if my case is an anomaly, and I would say that on average eating such a diet is not a good idea, as a very low fat diet engenders its own risks.
But I tried it. It works for me.
