hey all,
I've been running around to diff. doctors and have zero answers. Going for Igenex test tomorrow so hopefully that sheds some light.
I have no known exposure to ticks/areas that have ticks. I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
in 2012 I had some neuro/autoimmune issues, a mild case of Guillain Barre followed by a sleep disorder, that seemed triggered by an EBV infection. As far as I know this is at most tangentially connected to my current issues.
mid 2014 I began feeling mildly depressed, which I took to be no big deal. It wasn't debilitating, just felt kinda down. This may even go a ways back, it's hard to say for certain. Then I noticed I had lost weight, around 10 pounds, and my skin was noticeably looser, like I had aged considerably. Then I went through a bout of debilitating fatigue that lasted a couple of weeks. I had some abdominal pain so I assumed it may have been an infection of some sort.
I've had this fatigue/weight loss deal on and off since then. Saw my GP, basic tests showed nothing. My naturopath didn't think much of it. I've had low cortisol/DHEA in the past but I seemed to be over it. I was sleeping a bit less than I would have liked but this wasn't a huge deal. I supplement and eat healthy and exercise so it all seemed manageable.
My skin kept getting worse, thinner and weaker. Tiny wounds take months to heal and leave a scar. <y voice has been getting weaker which seems like the same kind of wasting as has affected my skin.
Around Christmas I had another crash or flare up. Same symptoms but worse. I couldn't stop peeing, lost another ten pounds in a couple days. Went to ER. They couldn't find anything and told me I was depressed. Happened again in April, same result.
In June the fatigue finally got the better of me. I developed a cough only at nighttime that lasted about
three weeks. My sleep became non existent. Tests showed nothing, xray and even a chest MRI only showed spleen enlargement and lymph node enlargement.
In the past few weeks my sleep has continued to be non existent. I've now developed numbness in my arms, legs, and face. My short term memory is gone, come to think of it this has been a problem for some time, maybe since last year. I've got a ringing in my ears that won't go away. Constant urination. Appetite and sense of thirst are gone, though I remind myself to eat and drink. Constipation. Dizziness. Difficulty swallowing.
Does any or all of this sound like potential Lyme?
