I have my next follow up appointment with my LLMD next week and the big question is what, if anything do we do about the persistent sore throat I have. I came back positive for Lyme and Babesia Ducani and started treatment on Omnicef/Zithro/Mepron which worked for a bit and then I regressed. The sore throat got better during this time. I switched about 2 months ago to just Omnicef/Tindamax with ABAB and while my head symptoms have improved the sore throat has been constant.
Doctor suspects it might be bartonella but I have no other signs and a chronic sore throat can also be a symptom of Lyme.
Possible situations here is the Zithro was working on the sore throat because I've heard its a good abx when dealing with bartonella. Or maybe Zithro works better for me against Lyme as opposed to Omnicef. Or maybe it's the babesia and it's more stubborn in the sore throat area and I need either more time or a different abx to be effective.
In any event we need to discuss and I'm not sure if we go the possible bartonella route or try and change/add abx to be more effective against the sore throat without taking away any progress on the babesia in the head.
Would love thoughts from the group. Thanks.
