Some fruit is really high in sugar. I stick to berries. Their glycemic index numbers are low. Also, eat protein and balance the sugar you do eat. Don't be fooled by yoghurt. Many are really high in sugar.
Start reading labels. Pay attention to carbs and sugars. And if the protein is higher than the sugar it's probably ok.
